Solvay Congresses are scientific conferences in physics and chemistry that have been held since 1911.

At the beginning of the 20th century, these councils brought together the greatest names in science of the time, which enabled important advances in quantum mechanics.

The congresses were organized thanks to the patronage of Ernest Solvay who is a Belgian chemist and industrialist.

Solvay Boards have been organized since the First World War on a three-year cycle:

Physics advice the first year.
No conference the second year.
Chemistry council in the third year.
